Member Safety & Community Standards
Committed to safe, respectful peer communication under Philippine Law.
1. The Safe Spaces Act (Republic Act No. 11313)
Under Philippine law, online sexual harassment is a serious offense punishable by fines and criminal prosecution. NearFriend maintains zero tolerance for:
Unsolicited Explicit Messages & Photos
Sending lewd, graphic, or sexually explicit content without mutual consent is strictly prohibited.
Cyberstalking & Doxxing
Attempting to discover, expose, or circulate someone's real-life identity, social media handle, personal location, or contact details without explicit consent.
Threats, Intimidation & Blackmail
Using peer chats to extort, coerce, or harass any individual.
2. Tips for Staying Safe While Chatting
- Keep Personal Details Private: Avoid sharing your full legal name, phone number, specific home address, or private social media accounts until you have established mutual trust.
- Mutual Reveal Card Protection: You remain completely anonymous by default using only a nickname. Only exchange your Secret Reveal Card (Real Name and FB/IG links) when you feel 100% comfortable and safe with that match.
- Disengage Immediately: If a conversation makes you feel uncomfortable, press "Next Match" to end the session instantly.
3. Reporting Violations & Community Enforcement
NearFriend provides real-time in-app reporting tools on every chat bubble. If you encounter an abusive peer, follow these steps:
- In-App One-Click Report: Click or tap the report icon on the offensive message bubble to immediately report it. The reported snippet and contextual transcript are automatically archived into our moderation review queue.
- Direct Support Email: You may also reach out directly to our safety desk at safety@nearfriend.me with the approximate time of the incident.
Our moderation team actively audits reported incident dossiers. We utilize automated security tokens and restriction protocols to permanently prevent repeat offenders from accessing the platform. Severe violations of RA 11313 or RA 10175 will be escalated to law enforcement authorities where required by Philippine law.
